 John
Chirnside pictured left, moved to Borough Green in 1946 where
he purchased the Black Smiths shop at
the crossroads in Borough Green. After a
short period of time he moved into making fencing and gates.
In May 1957 John Chirnside & Sons Ltd was formed
when his two sons George and Dugald both joined the business
after leaving school.
The company moved to it's present site at Longpond
Works, Wrotham Road, Borough Green in 1958, where we have
been manufacturing steel fencing and gates to the present
day.
John's two grandsons, Paul and Ian both
joined the business during the 1980's after leaving school
to ensure
the business continues strongly for the foreseeable future.
Although George retired in 1997, Dugald still
serves the company with great enthusiasm.
